Famous traveler Fyodor Konyukhov plans to start his next expedition on December 6 from the port of Dunedin in New Zealand. He is to put off on a round-the-world tour less than a week before his 67th birthday. Konyukhov is going to travel on a row boat for about two years, TASS reports.

From New Zealand Konyukhov is set to row to Cape Horn in Chile and proceed to Australia’s Cape Leeuwin. The traveler should return to New Zealand within two years. Traveler’s son Oscar Konyukhov who organized the expedition said that the first hours of the round-the-globe trip would be the most difficult for Konyukhov as he planned to row for 18 hours a day.

The trip starts a few weeks later than planned because of rains and downpours. Earlier Russkiy Mir reported that the traveler would set on a journey on specially made boat which had everything needed for a long-term autonomous navigation. For example, the boat was equipped with solar panels and batteries that would allow to keep the cabin warm. Konyukhov went on a row trip more than once. Last of his journey dates back to 2014, when the traveler managed to cross thousands of kilometers between Chile and Australia in five months.

This circumnavigation will become the sixth journey of this kind  for Fedor Konyukhov. The traveler crossed the Atlantic Ocean 17 times. He also became the first Russian citizen who visited the seven highest peaks in all parts of the world.
