The fourth Romansiada without Borders European Festival-Contest has started on November 24th in Hamburg. Traditionally, it was held with the assistance of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Laura Laevskaya, Svetlana Manizer, Sergey Vasilyev and the House of Romance in Moscow organized the competition.

The event gathered the best vocalists and musicians from 19 European countries. Including representatives from Italy, Denmark, Lithuania, Great Britain, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Germany etc. There sounded well-known and little-known romances. Artists performed them in academic, salon, gypsy and acting styles to the accompaniment of great piano, guitar and violin.

Performances of the contestants were scheduled on the first day. Then winners in two age categories were announced. Young artists aged from 6 to 16 competed for the Romansiada Hope prize. Among the adult participants are beginners and eminent artists of dramatic theaters and opera soloists. There were best European singers and creators of the modern romance.

An authoritative jury estimated their skills and talent. It included Merited Artist of Russia, Honored Arts Worker of Russia Galina Preobrazhenskaya, soloist of the Danish Royal Opera Theater Valery Likhachev, soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater Yulia Stupnianek-Kalediene.

A gala concert took place on November 25. Among its participants there are leading performers and students of the conservatory. The previous Romansiada winners and star members of the jury will perform as well.

Romansiada is one of the most respected creative competitions in Russia. At the beginning of next year, the best performers - the winners of the Romansiada from different countries - will perform on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace.
