Vladimir Putin launches Russian Cultural Center construction in Singapore

The first stone has been laid at the construction site of the Russian Cultural Center in Singapore, RIA Novosti reports. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his colleague Halim Yakob attended the ceremony.

The Rangoon Street was chosen to locate the center in. According to the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo, Mikhail Bryukhanov, it is planned that a building with an area of ​​more than 4500 square meters will be built on the territory of more than 30 000 square meters. There will also be a spiritual center.

There is no construction project yet. Most likely, there will be announced a competition. Moscow will undertake the costs of the building, but it will be constructed on the principle of public-private partnership.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is convinced that the new Russian cultural center will become an additional stimulus for the development of relations between the two countries in the field of culture. The foreign minister noted that Singapore plays a constructive role in strengthening interaction between Russia and ASEAN.

Earlier Russkiy Mir reported Vladimir Putin to arrive in Singapore with a three-day visit on November 13. He will participate in two large-scale international forums. In addition, he schedules several bilateral meetings with the head of the Singapore government Lee Hsien Loong and other officials.
