The famous Russian Kizhi museum-reserve became the Živa Award winner, the Russian Ministry of culture reports.

The Forum of Slavic Cultures held in the Czech capital initiated the Award. As part of the closing ceremony the prize was handled to the museum-reserve representatives. Kizhi was recognized as the Best Slavic Heritage Site.

This Award was aspired by twenty-five museums including five Russian ones. Gorki Leninskiye, the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, Malye Korely and the Museum of the World Ocean were among the competitors.

Also the museums of Belarus, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia and other countries participated the contest. More than a dozen different countries were represented.

This year competition was different from all previous ones. Two main prizes were established instead of one. The Best Slavic Museum Award was added. It went to the Immigration Museum located in the Polish city of Gdynia.

A part of the Kizhi museum was left in Prague - the plowshare removed from the head of the Transfiguration Church during the restoration works will become an exhibit of the roofing materials collection of the Czech Republic National Technical Museum where the Forum of Slavic Cultures was held.
