Russia has maintained the amount of its investments in US government securities at the level of $14.9 billion in July 2018, TASS reports referring to the data released on September 18 by the US Treasury.

Now, Russia is not among the countries with the biggest investments in US government bonds. China is on the first position investing $1.171 trillion in these assets. Japan holds the second position with $1.035 trillion. Ireland overalls the top-three, it has $300 billion investments.

In July 2018 foreign countries owned $6.251 trillion of US securities. In June 2018, the indicator showed $6.211 trillion.

Foreign legal entities, individuals, as well as companies, funds, and private investors hold American government bonds. They allow the US government to make public spending despite a large budget deficit. American treasury obligations are considered as the most reliable securities sold in the global financial market although they are not the most profitable.
