Russian students won two gold and two silver medals at Olympiad in Japan

Students of Russian schools have won four awards at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). Intellectual tournament was held in Japan, Russian Education portal reports.

Russia has two gold and two silver medals in this contest. About 1000 people from 80 states fought for the victory. Vladimir Romanov (Moscow) is awarded with gold medal, Yegor Lifar (Moscow) won the silver one. Mikhail Anoprenko (Saint Petersburg) has the silver medal and Ramazan Rakhmatullin from Tatarstan also won the first place. The participants were selected according to the results of the national competitions.

The students have competed in two five-hour-rounds. They had to solve and program algorithmic three or four tasks per round. The contestants worked alone, using computers.

The IOI is held for almost thirty years in a row. During this time the event took place on all continents except Antarctica. In 2016 it was in Kazan, previously the competitions were held in Kazakhstan and Belarus. The first Olympiad took place in 1989 in Bulgaria.
