More than 3 million people attended FIFA World Cup matches in Russia

3 031 768 fans watched 64 football matches at the stadiums of 11 Russian cities hosting FIFA World Cup-2018. This number of guests brings the Russian World Cup up to the 5th place among the most visited championships in football history including the US, Germany, South Africa and Brazil, TASS informs.

In average, about 47000 fans supported their teams at each game. Russia occupies the 10th place in the history of the FIFA World Cups on this average number. The finals between France and Croatia gathered 78011 people. Note that the main trophy of the championships after dramatic competition between Croatians and French is going to Paris.

Qatar is going to host the next FIFA World Cup in 2022. At the last day of the Russian World Cup Russian President Vladimir Putin passed symbolic rights on organization of the World Cup to Amir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
