Tchaikovsky's Empire festival starts in Italy

Tchaikovsky's Empire festival starts in Italy today, June 21. Saint Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra Klassica and soloists of Mikhailovsky Theater. The idea of the festival belongs to the head of  Orchestra Klassica Alexander Kantorov, Russian Ministry of Culture portal reports. 

The festival is going to be conducted in the province of Imperia. This was organizers wanted to remind about connection of these places with Russian culture. The composer wrote his famous opera Eugene Onegin in San Remo, on of the cities of this province.

Singers Boris Stepanov and Alexander Bezrukov to perform Tchaikovsky's serenades in the St. John the Baptist cathedral, Pieve di Teco. The programme will continue with works of Mozart and Dvorak.

Tomorrow musicians bare awaited in San Remo famous for its musical traditions. Elegy and other Tchaikovsky's pieces, and also Requiem by Mozart to be played by the St. Petersburg orchestra   with choir of Nice. They will give another concert on the local boardwalk.

Afterwards the musicians will head to Turin. The playbill draws attention with Russian music: Mussorgsky, Borodin, and of course Tchaikovsky.

The final point of the tour is Genoa.
