Russian schools ring the last bell today

25.05.2018

Majority of Russian schools graduates are to hear the last bell ringing today, RIA Novosti informs. This tradition symbolizes the end of one life stage and the beginning of the following stage and a transition to new adult life. The graduates are saying farewell to the school where they spent 11 years. Gala activities are organized for them and their teachers. Their relatives and friends come to the school.

The activities are very different, but the majority of the schools is aiming at keeping one tradition unchanged – at the school assembly the first-grade pupils ring the bell sitting on the shoulders of the senior grade pupils demonstrating succession of traditions of this holiday.

The end of the academic year is celebrated with disco parties, concerts, and quest games, which have gained much popularity over the last few years.
The last-grade pupils start taking exams. The main wave of the Unified State Exam starts on May 28 this year. The Unified State Exam is to be passed by more than 700 000 people this year.
