Frank and direct: talks of Putin and Macron lasted for 3 hours

The meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the French President Emmanuel Macron was held the day before in Saint Petersburg as a part of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, according to the official Kremlin website.

The Heads of States discussed Russian-French relations and many international issues. Their talks lasted for about 3 hours instead of two. The leaders answered journalists’ questions. 
According to Vladimir Putin, these were very useful negotiations, business-like and open. Macron called their meeting frank and direct.

Presidents have remarked that they both support the nuclear deal with Tehran. Vladimir Putin has reminded that IAEA confirmed that Iran observes all obligations in terms of this deal.
Another topic of importance was political settlement in Syria. The Heads of States agreed on continuous long-term perspective in settling the conflict. 

Besides, Presidents touched upon the issue of the Ukrainian conflict. They have emphasized one more time that sticking to the Minsk agreements is the only way to restore peace at the south-west of Ukraine.

The negotiations were around interaction in the cyber environment, which, in opinion of the Russian President, plays a special role in lives of millions of people.

A range of bilateral documents was signed at the meeting between the two Presidents. In particular, Intentions’ Declaration between Ministries of Culture of the Russian Federation and France on Cooperation in the Field of Cultural Heritage and Agreement on Collaboration between St. Petersburg State University and Sorbonne University in the Field of Implementing double diploma educational programs on history, literature and philosophy.
