Russia is well-presented at the 71st Cannes

Famous Cannes festival has started on the French Côte d'Azur, TASS reports. It has become the 71st, and Russia is represented very well.  Two films will compete for the prize, including Aika by Sergey Dvoretsky and Summer by Kirill Serebrennikov. Aika tells the story of the Kyrguzia immigrant in Moscow . There are four French films, two features from the US, two from Italy, Japan, and others.

Russian cinematography is represented in other programs. During the Week of Critics the short I am Normal by Mikhail Borodin to be shown. In the Cannes Classics section the restored version of War and Peace by Sergey Bondarchuk to be shown. Short by Igor Poplaukhin Calendar is included In the student contest Cinefondation. 

Two Russian directors will be a part of Cannes jury. Andrey Zvagintsev to be in the main section, headed by Cate Blanchett. As we reported before, 26-years old Kantemir Balagov has entered the Special View jury, the second important one at the Cannes Festival.
