Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, Alaska, hosted an exhibition and a presentation of the documentary titled Russian Time - Tiempo Russo. Th event was organized by the Congress of Russian Americans, Russian Cultural Center of Alaska and Federation of the Philippines’ Americans in Alaska, according to the website of the Coordinating Council of the Russian Compatriots living abroad.

The exhibition was dedicated to the history of the white immigrants escaping from the revolution in Russia, who appeared at the island of Tubabao, the Philippines. They found shelter there until 1953. There were around 6000 Russians on the island.

The exhibition was opened by the ceremony of carrying the flags of Russia, the Philippines and US, singing national anthems of the three countries and the prayer. After that, General Consul Deputy of the Russian Federation, local officials and researchers of the Russian heritage made their presentations.

President of Anchorage Museum, the author and supervisor of the exhibition Natalia Sabelnik talked about the life at the island Tubabao in the former American military camp of WWII times. According to the initial plan refugees had to stay in the camp for several months only, they spent two years there instead. Military cargo ships transported the majority of the camp inhabitants to Australia, South America and the Dominican Republic within the first year.

Historical artefacts are presented at the exhibition reflecting the escape from Russia after the revolution of 1917 and immigrants’ life in China and military camps in Tubabeo. The materials for this exhibition were provided by the Museum of the Russian Culture in San Francisco, Russian Historical Society of Australia, Elpidio Quirino Foundation and descendants of Tubabeo refugees.
