Tourist off-road routes will lie through the northwestern part of Russia, TASS informs. Travelers will contemplate natural monuments and historical relics distant from the civilization.

According to Maria Yurkina who is organizing these expeditions, the routes will cover the territory of the Arctic region as well. The first expedition will lay the route and help putting together instructive regulations, only after that the route can be offered to tourists. Yurkina notes that the Russian Geographical Society, ITMO University and Kola Science Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences are taking part in a series of expeditions.

During these expeditions, equipment tests in severe Northern conditions to be performed. Besides, geologists, biologists and other scientists will be delivered to the testing grounds and to the remote areas by off-roaders. The off-roaders will head for the remote places of Karelia, the Leningrad region and the Kola Peninsula.

Off-roaders represent a perfect alternative to light aviation in the Arctic region. They are not so expensive and can be used as rescue and medical equipment and for other purposes too.
