Foreign students compete in Olympiad on Russian language

The Department of Russian as Foreign Language of the Kazan Federal University hosted an Olympiad for foreign students studying the Russian language. Around 70 students of local universities from different countries took part in the Olympiad, according to IA Tatar-Inform.

The basic purpose of the Olympiad was raising interest to studying the Russian language, traditions and culture of the Russian Federation. The most significant task was promotion of creative initiatives of foreign students studying Russian.

The Olympiad is organized for three different categories of students. The first category of participants is fresh outs coming from ex-Soviet countries. The second category is students of the initial years coming from distant countries. For the first two categories, the language test was task number one. The third category comprised students of senior years and students getting their master degrees. They were offered to write an essay on a certain topic.

39 students were selected for the second tour to be held on March 24. The participants will have a discussion on the topic kept in secret by the organizers so far.
