A road part of the Crimean Bridge is almost ready, according to Vladimir Putin. The head of state visited the construction site where he watched construction process and saw a ready part of the bridge, RIA Novosti informs. In his opinion, the bridge is a unique construction leaving very strong impression.

Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the construction works might be completed in due course or even beforehand. It would be great if people going on vacation to Crimea this summer could go by this bridge already.

Russian President thanked the workers and promised to attend a gala opening ceremony.

He reminded that the bridge project was conceived and discussed in Tsarist Russia, but this idea failed that time to be implemented nowadays.

At present, the only work left is to equip the road base, i.e. to put asphalt-concrete and do the road marking. A 19km bridge is to connect Kuban and Crimea and to become the longest one in Russia. The traffic will be launched at the end of 2018. Trains will also be launched in 2018. The construction of the bridge started in February 2016.
