More than a quarter of a million of the world’s population is expected to join Total Dictation campaign this year, RIA Novosti informs.

As per the project’s spokesperson, Kseniya Erdman, this year a number of participants might approach a round figure. Around 200 000 people wrote the Dictation last year.

About 20 000 volunteers will assist in managing the process at places. The volunteers include philologists, teachers of the Russian language, professors of higher educational institutions and everybody willing to help.

The Total Dictation will be held in almost all regions of the country, excluding Karachay-Cherkessia, Ingushetia, Nenets Autonomous District, Magadan and Altai. There are no coordinators for this campaign in the regions mentioned above.

It is worth mentioning that this will be the first campaign on checking literacy for four regions of the country. The organizers refused to name countries participating in the campaign in advance.

Note that free preparation training courses on the Russian language started in 65 cities across the globe. Everybody willing to prepare for the Total Dictation is welcome to take these courses.

About a thousand of cities around the world will take part in Total Dictation on April 14. Vladivostok became the capital of the campaign this year, where Guzel Yachina will read her text at the central ground of the campaign.
