The Russians and the Slovaks keep mutual interest

Russia and Slovakia set a high level of trust and mutual understanding over a quarter of the century since setting the diplomatic relations between the two nations, according to the Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Alexei Fedotov, TASS informs. Besides, Moscow and Bratislava are trying to guard all good traditions existing in their relations.

Russian diplomat has underlined that a major part here belongs to the humanitarian ties. He has noted that Russian and Slovakian people are still very interested in culture and art of each other.

Russian Film Festival and Days of Russian Spiritual Culture were held in Slovakia last year. The nations plan to sign a new programme for the cultural cooperation next year.

Alexey Fedotov has remarked that Slovakia is building up popularity of studying the Russian language. Today it is studied by more than 70 000 people, including school children and students. Ambassador called all these factors great motivation for reinforcing understanding and friendly relations between the two nations, first of all, between the youth of the two countries.

Diplomat has expressed his gratitude to Slovakia as it is carefully storing the memory of thousands of warriors who died liberating the Slovaks from fascism. Russia is also very grateful to the Slovak authorities and its population for taking care of the monuments and graves of the Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the Victory over fascism.
