Russian literature to be presented at Paris Book Fair

bfro.beMore than 1500 books Russian publishers will bring to the French capital coming spring, TASS reports. Russia will be honored guest at the Paris Book Fair-2018.

According to Rospechyat head Mikhail Seslavinsky, around 30 recognised writers to participate in the festival. Also, major Russian libraries and institutions will be part of event as well.

The grand opening ceremony of the Russian-French cross year of language and literature to be held in the frames of the forum. Special Representative of Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy has claimed that 2018 to become a Year of French and Russian Literature in a wide sense, i.e. the literature written in all parts of the world in Russian or French language.

In the frames of the cross-year many French writers will meet their readers in various Russian regions. This project to be supervised by French actress and director Fanny Ardant . She is really engaged in Russian literature and culture.

In two days Ardant is going to present her film Stalin's Coach, based on the Jean-Daniel Baltassat novel.
Set in the 1950s Soviet Union, the plot centers on a young artist who is commissioned to create Stalin's monument and must go through KGB scrutiny. Josef Stalin's role is played by Gérard Depardieu. Russian filmmakers from Mosfilm company helped the French crew to choose the right settings and props. To create Stalin's uniform costume designers have studied real Generalissimo's uniform.
