Singer Alexander Vedernikov dies

Buldakov Oleg\TASSWorld opera soloist Alexander Vedernikov died on January 9th, TASS reports. One of the unique voices of our country, People's artist of the USSR died at the age of 90.

Vedernikov was born in Kirov Oblast of Russia, has received education in Moscow Conservatory. He's performed in Kirov Theater of Leningrad (Now Mariinsky Theater). More than 30 years he worked in Bolshoi Theater, went on training in La Scala. Vedernikov was a mentor to young singers of The Bolshoi Theater, and was heading the Russian Opera theater in the Russian capital.

Alexander Vedernikov was particularly noted for his performances of the Russian repertoire. The Russian bass is famous for his portrayal of Boris Godunov in Mussorgsky's opera and in Italian Opera buffo roles.
