Fourth Balkan Folklore Festival conducted in Sofia

tvculture.ruMore than 200 Russian expats and Russian culture admirers from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia met in Sofia at The Fourth Balkan Folklore Festival dedicated to 870th anniversary of Moscow, as per the International Russia website.

The jury consisting of professional musicians, creative bands’ leaders and public figures evaluated the contest participants. Each participant performed two songs about Russia or Moscow. Experienced signers shared the stage with young bands beginning their creative career. The large number of well-prepared performances made the jury’s choice more complicated to select the best one.

Finally, the choir of Russian House in Belgrade got the main Award for their song Cossacks in Berlin and Hymn to Russian House. The Bulgarian ensemble The Girls from Torgovische town took the People’s Choice Award.
The festival completed with a gala evening where participants together with audience sang the Slavic songs.

Festival was organized by Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots living in Bulgaria, Compatriots’ Union Federation and Together with Russia national society with support by Department of external economics and international connections of Moscow, Russian Cultural Informational Center in Sofia and Moscow House in Sofia.
