Italian entrepreneur Marco Maggi's book, "Russian to the Bone," is now accessible for purchase in Italy and is scheduled for release in Russia in the upcoming months. Exhibition of Costumes designed by Pablo Picasso for Russian ballet troupe of Sergei Diaghilev was opened in London Victoria and Albert Museum, England paper reports.
These costumes made a sensation at Russian Seasons ballet festival in Paris and London one hundred years ago. Clothes items designed by Picasso for Parade ballet are also displayed at the exhibition. The premiere of this ballet caused a colossal scandal in 1917.
It should be mentioned that interaction between Pablo Picasso and theatrical figure and entrepreneur Sergei Diaghilev was not confined to design of costumes only. The painter participated in creating sceneries, theatre bills, he even proposed own version of the staging programme. Exhibition supervisors supposed that Picasso’s muse could be a Russian ballet dancer Olga Khokhlova, who married Picasso afterwards. Picasso for Russian Ballet exhibition is opened until June 28.
