Exhibition Imagine Moscow: Architecture, Propaganda, Revolution opens at the British capital in the Museum of Design, RIA Novosti reports. The expo is devoted to 100th anniversary of The Great October Revolution.

According to the curator, exhibition authors intended to demonstrate the reflection of the Soviet propaganda in architecture and design and, at the same time, to show the fact that design and architecture remained a bold attempt of creating a brand new world and a brand new man.

Architectural and design projects of the 20s–30s of the last century are among the displayed items. The majority of projects have never been implemented including Cloud Iron by El Lissitzky, Lenin Institute by Ivan Leonidov, Palace of the Soviets by Boris Iofan, Resort Hotel in Mastesta by Nikolay Sokolov, Community House by Nikolai Ladovsky and People’s Commissariat for Heavy Industry by Vesnin brothers and Konstantin Melnikov. Besides, a special place is taken by the Lenin’s Mausoleum project. Its main difference with other projects is that it was actually brought to life. Each hall contains rare sketches, patterns, utensils more or less related to each of the big projects.

The display will work until the beginning of summer.

It is worth reminding that British capital pays a lot of attention to Russian art and Russian history this year. Exhibition Revolution: Russian Art of 1917 – 1932 was opened at the Royal Academy of Arts. The Museum of Science will celebrate the anniversary of Valentina Tereshkova.

Besides, Film Festival dedicated to one hundred’s anniversary of October Revolution started in London. Artworks of Soviet and foreign filmmakers are included into the agenda. Modern Art gallery Tate Modern plans to present citizens and guests of London with the art of the celebrated Russian conceptual artist Ilya Kabakov and his wife Emilia. Exhibition Red Star over Russia devoted to Soviet Banners and Graphics will start November 8.
