Traditional Butter Week Russian culture festival starts in London, TASS reports. This year, the locals will say «good bye» to the winter in British-Russian style for the 8th time. As per organizers, the Ensemble Productions, this event calls to promote the true diversity of Russian culture in Britain. The project is supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The Gala Reception took place in The Palace of Westminster, where the British Parliament regularly meets.

One of the main festival events is the final ceremony of the contest Albion Stars – Maslenitsa. The main program of this event will include the Butter Week dinner and Specials from the Russian Cuisine in one of the London restaurants. Russian chanson singers Timur Dzeitov and Daria Kulish will perform for the audience.

Not only music but also Russian movies will be introduced for the lovers of Russian culture, Queen of Spades by Pavel Lungin and Rita's Last Fairy Tale by Renata Litvinova.

According to the Festival director Olga Balakleets, the events of this type are tailored to establish better relations between Moscow and London. It is especially important today, while the political situation in the world remains very tense. “I’m so glad to celebrate the Butter week and beginning of the spring Russian style, together with British parliamentarians,” commented Mrs Balakleets.

The final chord of the festival will take place in the Cadogan Hall, London's newest concert hall in the heart of Chelsea. Russian choirs from Brighton and London, students of the Natalya Kremen Ballet school, Russian Souvenir Ensemble and other Russian English performers will participate in the concert.
