Vladimir Medinsky

Minister of Culture

Born on July 18, 1970 in the city of Smela, Cherkassy region of Ukraine.

1987-1992 – graduated with honors from MGIMO MFA of Russia

1991-1992 – served at the Embassy of the USSR (RF) in Washington DC.
 
1992 – founded the PR Agency "Corporation "Ya" (the best Russian PR agency in 1997 and 2000) which he had helmed until 1998.
 
1993-1994 – postgraduate studies at MGIMO MFA.
 
1998-1999 – head of the Department for Information Policy at the Tax Collection Ministry of the Russian Federation, second-grade public advisor of the Russian tax and revenue service.
 
1999-2000 – head of the administration at the Central Election Headquarters of the Fatherland – All Russia (Otechestvo – Vsya Rossiya) faction.
 
2000-2002 – advisor of Georgy Boos.
 
2002-2004 – head of the executive committee, MGRO of the United Russia party and head of the pary’s election headquarters in Moscow.
 
2003-2007 – Deputy of Russia's State Duma of the fourth convocation.
 
2004-2005 – Deputy-Chairman of CEC for United Russia.
 
2007-2011 – Deputy of Federal Assembly's State Duma of the fifth convocation.
 
2011 – By a decree of Russian President he joined the Management Committee of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

On May 21, 2012, he was appointed as Russian Minister of Culture by a decree of Russian President.
