Residents of Spain Learn about the Image of the Madonna in the Russian Orthodox Church

An exhibit called The Imagine of the Madonna in the Russian Orthodox Church has opened in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The exhibit has been organized by the St. Gregory Nazianzus Foundation with support from the Russian Orthodox Church’s Department of External Church Relations, the Moscow Patriarchy Publishing House, the Nativity of Christ Parish in Madrid, the Santiago de Compostela Seminary, Russkiy Mir Foundation and creative studio Sobor. The exhibit is part of the Year of Russia in Spain program.
The exhibit includes the works of contemporary icon painters: Alexander Sokolov, Svetlana Rzhanitsyna, Vyacheslav Simakov, Elena Andryushina, Andrei Saveliev, Irina Kolbneva and others. In total 95 icons of the Mother of Christ, mainly those representing images of famous icons that become part of the Russian Orthodox calendar.
Each of the icons is accompanied by a description in Spanish explaining the origin of the image, where the original icon is located and a list of miracles attributed to the icon.
