Over 500 Russian Artists to Perform at Expo 2010
 Sep 8, 2010

More than 500 Russian artists will perform at Expo 2010 on the exhibition's Russia Day, the country's commissioner general at the exhibition said on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports. "Russia is preparing a wide ranging cultural program, practically at all Expo platforms," Vladimir Strashko said. Russia Day is due at the Shanghai event on September 28.

"Russia Day will become a holiday for all Shanghai residents; many of them will come here on that day especially to experience Russian culture," he said.

The 2010 World Expo is being held in Shanghai until October 31. Up to 70 million people are expected to visit the city for the event, which has seen investment of up to $4 billion.

Russia has built an expo pavilion for the first time in 30 years. The sun-shaped structure is comprised of 12 white-and-gold towers symbolizing the 12 months of the year, and sits on an area of 6,000 square meters. To date, it has been visited by over 5 million people. It showcases Russia's recent scientific and economic achievements and offers a diverse cultural program.
