Plan to Declassify Russian Archives to Be Ready by Yearend
Sep 8, 2010
A five-year plan to declassify Russian historical archives will be drawn up before the end of the year, Federal Archives Agency head Andrei Artizov said on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports. The plan will aim to expedite the declassification process, he said.
Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Naryshkin said earlier on Tuesday declassified documents should become an important "counterargument" in the struggle against attempts to distort Russian history.
Both took part in a joint session of a presidential commission to counter attempts to falsify history to the detriment of Russian interests and an interagency commission on the protection of state secrets.
