4th Russian-Serbian Cultural Forum openes in Belgrade

The 4th Russian-Serbian Cultural Forum is taking place in Belgrade, Smotrim reports. The leaders of the largest Russian cultural organizations discuss with local colleagues the issues of preserving cultural heritage monuments and restoring cultural property.

The participants studied the Fortress of the Slavic Word project. Pianist Ivan Bessonov is going to perform works by Rachmaninoff at a concert in honor of the anniversary of the famous composer.

The Hermitage Days became part of the forum program. As Russkiy Mir reported, the exhibitions entitled ''Royal Porcelain'' and ''Invisible Art.'' opened in Belgrade. ''Royal Porcelain'' will present to visitors replicas of dinnerware sets used by Russian emperors at celebrations. The ''Invisible Art'' presents exhibits that can be touched - the visitors can feel the surface of ancient frescoes, the structure of carpets, etc. Anyone interested in Russian culture will be invited to a open lecture by the Hermitage head Mikhail Piotrovsky. He is scheduled to speak about St.Petersburg at the University of Belgrade on October, 25.

The Hermitage Days will continue with film screenings of ''The Empress'' and ''Peter I. The Last Tsar and the First Emperor.'' The program also includes master classes, seminars and round table discussions. A Russian-Serbian scientific archaeological conference will be held in Belgrade and Novi Sad as part of the Hermitage Days.

After completing the main program, Serbian experts will go to St. Petersburg, where they will continue their scientific work.
