Vyacheslav Nikonov: Western leaders openly support war in Ukraine

12.04.2022

Vyacheslav Nikonov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Chairman of the Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, commented on the latest statements by Western leaders on Ukraine.

Previously, the heads of the US, EU, NATO said that their goal in Ukraine is peace. Everything changed.

In recent days, statements have become directly opposite. Never before in history has the head of Eurodiplomacy, such as Josep Borrell, said that the goal of the European Union is to win a war. Other senior officials of the European Union did not talk about it either. Now this is stated quite openly.

Here is what White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan had to say: ''In the end, we want to see a free and independent Ukraine, a weakened and isolated Russia, and a stronger, more united and determined West. We believe that all three of these goals are achievable in the foreseeable future.''

So, no peace in Ukraine, no peace talks. But the real goals are named - the maximum strengthening of Ukraine so that it achieves victory over Russia, the maximum weakening of Russia, the maximum unity of the West.

It is not some ''democratic West'' that has long since ceased to oppose us. We are confronted by an existential adversary whose task is to destroy Russia as a state and us as a nation.

Therefore, our cause is not only right, but also virtuous, Nikonov wrote in his Telegram channel.
