Russia's Foreign Minister: Russkiy Mir Assemblies connect compatriots and their historical homeland

03.11.2020

The organizers, participants and guests of the 14th Russkiy Mir Assembly were greeted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Over the long years of fruitful work, the forum has become an integral part of the country's public life, an important bridge between compatriots living abroad and the historical homeland,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to Sergei Lavrov, the Russkiy Mir Foundation Assemblies have become one of the key dialogue platforms on popularizing the Russian language and the best achievements of Russian culture, countering attempts to falsify history, and developing interfaith and intercultural dialogue. “The key to success is the invariably representative composition of the participants who are not indifferent to the fate of Russia, showing a genuine interest in the richest heritage of the Russian Diaspora,” the diplomat said.

The Minister expressed confidence that the results of the meeting "will contribute to the further rallying of the multinational and multi-confessional Russian world, building up international humanitarian cooperation" and promised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to provide all possible assistance "to your projects and initiatives aimed at promoting an objective image of Russia abroad, preserving our common cultural, historical and spiritual heritage ”.
