St. Nicholas Cathedral in Nice, which is considered the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe, is among the fourteen applicants for the title of the most interesting monument in the history of France. The main attraction is chosen by voting on the website of the state television company France Television, according to the Russkiy Ochevidets newspaper.

Compatriots in France urge everyone to vote for the cathedral. The initiator of the project was the famous French TV presenter and writer Stephane Bern. The number of applicants for the title of the most interesting monument included fortresses, castles and temples from several regions of France. Voting will last until July 26, the winner will be announced on live television.

Two years ago, Stephane Bern initiated the Heritage Mission lottery, aimed at saving France’s unique monuments from destruction.

Over two million lottery tickets were sold during the first two weeks of the action. The proceeds were spent on the restoration of 18 monuments, including the villa of Polina Viardot, which is located in the estate of Ivan Turgenev in Bougival.
