Big Tours Online gathered about 8 million views in a month

The audience of the Big Tours Online project has almost reached eight million viewers in a month, RIA Novosti reports. The viewers watched 35 performances by 30 theaters from two dozen cities on various platforms and social networks. The best productions collected hundreds of thousands of views.

Ostrovsky’s The Heart Is Not a Stone by the Et Cetera Theater under the direction of Alexander Kalyagin leads in the number of views. Its audience exceeded 850 thousand spectators. Almost 450 thousand users watched Vass Zheleznova. The First Option by the team of the Maly Theater. Time Out by the Tver Youth Theater, Hero of Our Time by the Astrakhan Drama Theater were also among the leaders.

Children’s plays The Adventures of Ashot the Poor and the puppet show Ruslan and Lyudmila gathered 400 thousand and 330 thousand spectators respectively.

The Ministry of Culture of Russia noted that the Big Tours Online allowed millions of viewers to see theatrical performances from Russian regions for free. The project's program included productions of Moscow and St. Petersburg theaters, as well as groups from Astrakhan, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad and other cities of the country.

The launch of the project at the end of March was associated with the temporary closure of theaters due to the coronavirus pandemic. Online shows of productions quickly gained popularity. During the first week, the performances gathered over a million views.
