Meeting of Russian centers of Europe leaders takes place in Krakow

25.09.2019

On September 25, an educational and methodical seminar has opened for leaders and methodologists of Russian centers in European countries at the Krakow Pedagogical University, where the Russian Center has been successfully operating for 10 years.

The opening ceremony of the seminar was attended by representatives of the Krakow Pedagogical University, the Russkiy Mir Foundation, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow, Rossotrudnichestvo and other organizations, which congratulated Helena Ples, the long-term head of the Russian Center, and her colleagues on the anniversary of the center.

These September days, ten years ago, we opened our first Russian Center in the Republic of Poland at the Krakow Pedagogical University and simultaneously held the first student festival called Friends, our Union is Beautiful!”, which was created here at the initiative of the distinguished Mrs. Helena Ples!,” the executive director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vladimir Kochin said in his speech, “This festival continues to live on, it hosts more and more teams, universities and participants. And this year has already passed the eighth in a row.

Our state especially distinguished the contribution of Mrs. Ples to the promotion of the Russian language and culture and strengthening friendship between our peoples by awarding her with the Pushkin medal,” Kochin noted.

Kochin awarded Krakow Pedagogical University with the commemorative medal of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The university’s ex-rector Michal Sliva received the memorial sign of the Russkiy Mir Foundation from his hands.

Representatives of 18 European countries, representing 42 Russian centers, are taking part in the seminar. They will discuss the features of teaching bilingual children, introducing pupils and students to the theater, through which the cultural code of the Russian language and culture is preserved, the development of children's creative abilities in Russian centers, current trends in the development of the Russian language and its role in the multicultural world. Colleagues from Russian centers will share their work experience, talk about interesting and promising projects for working with children, students and Russian-language teachers.

The Russian Center is an international educational and cultural project implemented by the Russkiy Mir Foundation in partnership with the world's leading educational institutions.

Russian centers of the Russkiy Mir Foundation are created in order to popularize the Russian language and culture, support programs for studying the Russian language abroad, develop intercultural dialogue and strengthen mutual understanding between peoples.

The Russkiy Mir Foundation launched a program to create Russian centers in 2008. There are currently 115 such centers in 51 countries.
