Aleksey Meshkov appointed the head of Russian Embassy in France

Aleksey Meshkov is appointed the head of the Russian Embassy in France, TASS reports. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of the state Vladimir Putin.

Before Meshkov has served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Now Alexander Pankin is approved for this post by the presidential decree.

Mr. Alexey Meshkov was born in 1959 in Moscow. In the beginning of 1980s he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and started working in Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish. For many years he has worked as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Italian Republic and Ambassador Non-Resident to the Republic of San Marino. Afterwards, he served as tge Permanent Representative to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and jointly to the UN World Food Programme.

At the end of 2012 he was appointed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Aleksey Meshkov has received several awards from Russian government, including Order of Friendship, the Honorary Certificate, Aleksander Nevsky award.
