This opinion was expressed by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Their meeting was held on October 17 in Jerusalem.

According to Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin, the meeting participants have stressed out that both parties do not accept attempts to reconsider results of the Second World War and belittle the decisive role of the Soviet Union in the victory over the fascism.

Sergey Shoygu has added that Russia approves of a new law about the status of 9th of May as an official holiday.

It should be reminded that several months ago the Israeli Parliament members supported the bill about celebration of the Victory Day over the Nazi Germany on 9th of May. A gala session of the Israeli Parliament and the State Commemorative Ceremony are planned on this day.

Approximately ten thousand participants of the Second World War live in Israel today. Overall one and a half million Jews were fighting in the armies of Anti-Hitler Coalition, a third part of them being in the Red Army and guerilla troops at the occupied territories of the Soviet Union.
