1917. Revolution. Russia and Europe exhibition opens in Berlin

pixabay.comExhibition dedicated to anniversary of the Great October Revolution is opened in Berlin, TASS informs. The exposition titled 1917. Revolution. Russia and Europe is located in the German Historical Museum. Scientists, historians, public figures, artists, writers, politicians representatives of government and business circles from Russia and Germany took part at the opening ceremony held the day before.

According to German Minister of Culture Monika Grutters, the organizers managed to build and demonstrate the connection between 1917 and the present times as well as to show transformations happened as a result of this revolution. She has remarked that national remembrance should be based on the historical facts instead of second thoughts dependent on today’s political situation.

Around five hundred items witnessing the events going on in Russia from 1917 to 1922 as well as their social and political aftermath are exhibited there.

Pictures, posters, porcelain items, sculptures, utensils, red ceramics, banners, orders, death mask of Vladimir Lenin, works by sculptor Sergey Merkurov, a fragment of the battleship Potemkin are displayed at the exhibition.

The exhibition consists of four parts. Firstly, the audience will get to know Imperial Russia. The second part encompasses events happening right before, during and immediately after the revolution. The third part is dedicated to the perception of USSR by the European society.
The fourth part is called Epilogue. Small monitors broadcast videos about different aspects of the revolution expressed by contemporary Russians and Germans.
