Igor Moiseyev Ballet honored at Festival in France

Victor Tolochko/ITAR TASSRussian Folk Dance Ensemble became the key performance at the Festival of the World Cultures held in France. Concert by Igor Moiseyev Ensemble took place in the city of Montoire-sur-le-Loir. The troupe was an honored guest of the festival, TASS informs.

Festival has been attended by fans of country dancing and folklore from all over Europe for almost fifty years. Several dozens of people have visited the concerts this year.

According to Ballet’s head Elena Scherbakova, the troupe was welcomed very hearty. The audience enjoyed dances of peoples of the world performed by the ensemble including Russian folk dances.  The organizers asked to perform namely Russian folk dances at the festival and broadened the stage to create more comfortable conditions for performers. “It’s very pleasant and valuable that organizers tried to create all necessary conditions for us”, Scherbakova said.

Forum organizing committee has added that they were very impatient about the concert and the troupe has fully satisfied their expectations – Russian dancers demonstrated their skills and professionalism.

Festival in Montoire-sur-le-Loir became the final destination of grand European tour of Moiseyev Ballet. This road tour marks the Ensemble’s 80th anniversary. The first city of the road tour was Paris, where dancers opened the main hall of UNESCO headquarters after its been repaired. The ensemble will set for Turkmenistan and Jordan this fall. The road tour around Russia is also planned.
