More than 50,000 Australians talk Russian at home, and more than 85,000 Australians have Russian roots, TASS reports. This data was collected during the 2016 national census in Australia. Out of 85 thousand people with Russian roots 60,000 locals have both parents born in Russia, about 11,000 have only one Russian-born parent, and another 12,000 have parents that were born on the Green Continent.

Over the course of the last half-century, the number of inhabitants has almost doubled. As of today there are 24 million people in Austrealia. Out of them 67% are local natives, 4% were born in United Kingdom. 2% each coming from New Zealand, China and India.

Population census on the Green Continent takes place every five years, and it's mandatory to participate in it.
