The delegation of pilgrims from Russia arrived at Bari, Italy, due to celebrations connected to delivery of St. Nicholas holy relics to Russia, RIA Novosti informs.

Russian delegation consists of senior priests of Russian Orthodox Church and social activists. They plan to take part in the divine service, which will take place at the Catholic basilica of St. Nicholas on 22 May, at St. Nicholas day.

Archpriest Andrey Boytsov has remarked that crowds of believers visit the basilica at that day. He has expressed his satisfaction with the fact that those Christians who don’t have an opportunity to come to Italy to worship the relics will have a chance to do that in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

At that day, St. Nicholas relics, who is the most honored saint in Russia will leave Bari where they have been stored for 900 years to fly by charter flight to Moscow accompanied by the Russian delegation.

The holy relics will be kept in Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral until 12th of July. After that, the relics will be moved to Saint Petersburg for a couple of weeks.
