Russian actor Morgunov would turn 90 today

Today Russian actor Yevgeny Morgunov would turn 90. He was born in Moscow. His father passed away very soon. The boy was brought up by his mother who worked as factory cleaner. He was only 14 when the World War 2 had started. Yevgenyengaged in a front labour to support his family. By lucky chance Morgunov participated in amateur performance, and understood that he wanted to be an artist.

He wrote to Stalin that he wants to devote his life to the theater. The Soviet system worked like clockwork, and in two weeks the factory director had the answer from the most important person in USSR. Stalin recommended to send the young man to the National Council of Cultural Affairs.

Pretty soon the youngest student was accepted to Film Institute VGIK, Sergey Gerasimov class. In 1945 he was involved in theYoung Guard film. Unfortunatly later his part went through a censorship.

Hovewer he had to wait for a hour of triumph for several years. His comic talent was recognised through the roles in Leonid Gaidai movies, like Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures, Kidnapping, Caucasian Style and others.

By the end of the life he was forgotten as a film actor, but continued perform on stage. Yevgeny Morgunov passed away in 1999 because of diabetes.
