The Last Empress. Documents and Pictures exhibit opened in the Russian State Historical Archive. It is dedicated to Alexandra Fyodorovna, the wife of Nicholas II, as per Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper. The exhibited items include photos of the Royal Family’ every-day life, letters written by the Empress and Her children, diaries, manuscripts and post cards.

All documents from the state archive funds comprising around seven hundred cases are available to the wide audience for the first time. The main feature of this exhibition is that it can be accessed by the Internet users. More than sixty thousand pages of documents were digitalized. The experts attached annotations to many of them.

According to the academic director of the state archive Sergei Mironenko, a century passed since Alexandra Fyodorovna's death, but the personality of the last Russian Empress stays in the shadow of history for the majority of the Russian population. He has continued that until now many scientists are arguing about her role in the history and her character is contradictory.

Earlier these documents could be accessed only in the reading hall. Today modern technologies provide an opportunity for everybody to familiarize themselves with the unique heritage of our Motherland history and the fate of the Romanov Royal Family.
