Lavrov spoke to Tillerson about the inadmissibility of further U.S. missile attacks on Syria

12.04.2017

RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that further missile attacks of U.S. targeted at Syria airbase are unacceptable calling such U.S. actions illegal. Lavrov made these statements in the course of talks with the U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, as per RIA Novosti.

“We believe that it is absolutely essential to avoid repetition of such risks and accidents in future” Lavrov said.

Moreover, according to him, Moscow has many questions regarding statements made by Washington recently. Minister reminded that U.S. authorities expressed more than one questionable and contradictory ideas about world politics and relations between the two countries.

According to Russian Foreign Minister, the Secretary of State’s visit to Russia is in due time. It provides a great possibility to openly and honestly discuss possible collaboration scenarios for Washington and Moscow. First of all, it concerns extensive collaboration on combating international terrorism. Collaboration with U.S. built on constructive and equal relations is quite possible.

The Head of Russian Diplomacy has also reminded that Russia does not consider confinement to closed unions as an efficient way of conflict resolution. Sergei Lavrov has underlined that this point of view has never been concealed and Washington is very well aware of it.

In its turn, Russia wants to understand the position of the U.S. government as well as real intentions of the White House. Sergey Lavrov expressed hope that it would be possible to find it out in the course of further negotiations.
