RF Foreign Ministry awaits reaction from Madrid to disrespectful diplomat's behavior

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called "unacceptable" several statements of Spanish ambassador in Kiev Gerardo Bugallo Ottone that were made at the press club “Diplomats without ties”. The diplomat has presumed he is free enough to talk in a disrespectful way about Russian president and Russian Federation in general.

In particular, the diplomat has stated that "Once Ukraine gets rid of corruption, it will mean 100% Putin's defeat. Mr Bugallo has also mentioned that Russia experiences all the problems due to the fact that "Putin follows the Soviet path". The diplomat made another unacceptable statement about the Minsk agreements, calling them impossible to implement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that "by making categorical and biased statements, the Spanish representative in Kiev not only went far beyond his official status, but also contradicted with the official position of his own country's leadership". The Ministry also stated that they are waiting for adequate reaction from Madrid to unacceptable behavior of the Spanish representative.
