Russia entered the top-3 most reading countries

Social research conducted by the German company GfK have shown that about 60% Russians read books or periodicals every month or every day, Year of Literature portal informs.

As per online survey, conducted among 22 thousand people in 17 countries, Russia took the second place showing 59% of the eager readers. The rating is headed by China where 70% adult citizens like to read books. The third place is taken by Spain with 57% result.

The Russian division of GfK has marked that the quantity of Russians who fancy a book at least once a week is growing. The research made 7 years ago, had 47% result.

In the list of the countriues where reading is the least popular activity are Netherlands and South Korea.

It was also found that the number of reading women prevailed over masculine readers.

It is worth mentioning that only internet users take part in online survey, the director of the book chain Bukvoed Denis Kotov commented. Apart of this the volume of printed issues is very low in villages and little towns, which reduces the possibility to access the contemporary book market.
