RT America competes for prestigious Emmy Award

Kremlin.ru//wikimedia.org RT America TV channel is nominated for the most prestigious American TV Emmy Award, RIA Novosti reports.

TV channel editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan explained that this is a unique chance, as a rule, only American TV channels can compete for this Award.

RT has been shortlisted for the final tour of the International Award for four times. It happened for the first time seven years ago when RT was nominated for its TV programme about USA President Barack Obama to the Russian Federation.

There was another nomination two years later – for broadcasting the movement Occupy Wall Street campaigns started in 2011.

Russian TV channel presented a series of specialized coverages about hunger strike of the Guantanamo prisoners three years ago.

Emmy Award is a TV analogue of Oskar. It is one of the most prestigious awards on TV.
