Ukrainian Security Service did not allow Russian singer Yulia Samoylova to enter the territory of Ukraine. She was supposed to represent Russia at The Eurovision Song Contest at the second half of May.
The singer cannot come to Ukraine within the period of three years. The Ukrainian authorities believe that Yulia crossed the state border illegally when she performed a few years ago in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry called the decision of Ukraine Security Service “a cynical and inhuman act”.
Federation Council Defence and Security Committee Deputy Chairman Franz Klintsevich believes that Moscow should boycott a Kiev session of the contest and the contest on the whole in case the administration of Eurovision does not protect the Russian signer.
Meanwhile, many social networkers are sure that Russia should boycott the contest.
European Broadcasting Union responsible for the contest session in Kiev has expressed hope that a decision enabling every delegation to participate in Eurovision will be found. The Union has underlined that they are monitoring the situation closely.
