Russian Bear Joins Sculpture Garden in Manila

Photo © ITAR-TASS/Ekaterina Shtukina Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has presented a statue of a bear to the Philippines as a gift. The symbol of bilateral cooperation between Russia and the Philippines has been presented during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, TASS reports. The sculpture has already been given a place of honor at the APEC Summit sculpture garden in Manila. The garden was created in the early 1990s at the time of the Fourth APEC Summit. All artworks on display were presented by APEC member economies.

Dmitry Medvedev noted that, since Russia had not taken part in the Fourth APEC Summit, it was decided to present the sculpture this year.

The Bear is made of bronze. It weighs about 500 kilograms.

Russian Prime Minister has already met with Philippine President Benigno Aquino who stressed that his country would continue to pursue a course of mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia.

Philippine President added that he was looking forward to signing corresponding agreements and launching an intergovernmental commission.
