Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed off on the latest list of foreign educational institutions whose academic degrees and titles are automatically recognized in Russia, the government’s website reports.
Diplomas from 213 foreign universities will now be acknowledged in Russia without an additional state evaluation, according to the government order published Friday. The selected universities, which represent 23 countries, have been featured on such lists as the Academic Ranking of World Universities, the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The list includes such names as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Yale and MIT as well as number of schools of lesser renown. Graduates of foreign universities not on the list face a lengthy bureaucratic procedure to have their diplomas officially recognized in Russia. The list of required documents includes a notarized Russian translation of the diploma and a copy of the university's license.
Universities of China and South Africa are no longer included on this list, as Russia has reached bilateral agreements on the mutual recognition of diplomas with these countries.
